It's been a long time, huh?
Well, all I can say right now is....SORRY!
Let's see...where to start! My life has been a whirlwind for that last month or so. First, we find out that the sweet baby boy that we thought was our first grandson, isn't biologically my sons! Oh, I can't even begin to tell you the hurt and pain. I haven't been able to see sweet Evret since the test. :( I guess you could say it was a bitter sweet evening....
About a week later, Miss Kylie was not feeling so well. She was having an uncontrollable thirst with some serious sleep issues. She seemed so restless. I could smell a funny smell on her breath, a smell that I have only ever experienced once before... it was KEYTONES! I took her to the pediatrician, knowing in the back of my mind, but not wanting to believe that my baby had diabetes. A pee test and some blood work confirmed, indeed, Kylie had TYPE 1 diabetes! I can not begin to explain the devistation. Why my sweet baby girl??? I knew this meant a life time of insulin shots, finger pricks, and doctors appointments. It just didn't seem real to me...until I had to give her that first shot. Oh, it was awful. She begged and pleaded for me not to hurt her, why was I doing this to her... I wanted to crawl in a hole and just bawl. We talked to her and told her everything we knew, over and over and assured her that it was to keep her healthy. Kylie is a smart cookie, she gets it, but she still doesn't like it. I can't say I like it either.
On the other side of the coin, I have to thank God. I have to thank him for helping me to stay stong so I can care for her. I have to thank him for allowing me another day with her. Diabetes doesn't mean death, it just means a major life style change.
I can deal with that, thank you sweet Jesus, thank you!
A friend of mine sent me a really sweet email entitled, why dogs bite people... this is bound to brighten anyones day...enjoy!

My 1st GRANDBABY!
Yep, I have a new addition to my family! Baby Evret! Isn't he just the SWEETEST! I never thought I would be a Nana at thirt-wellnevermind that!
A dear friend of mine wrote this and she will never know how much this meant to me....
I think of Evret as I read Ps. 139...Verse 5-God has been behind Evret, and before him, and laid his hand upon him.
Vs 15-Evret's substance was not hid from God when God made him in his mother's womb.
Vs16-God saw Evret before he was even born, and scheduled each day of his life before he even began to breathe. Every day of Evret's life has been recorded in God's book.
Laurie-God is watching over this child! And He hears and answers a praying grandmother!!!!
Love to you!

Never a dull moment!
Well, there is never a dull moment on Old MacLaurie's farm! LOL If it isn't roosters swimming around in our pool, or chickens sitting on 15 chicks, or rescuing kittens from rising water put out from a hurricane,it is our Mamma Kitty having babies! LOL We have a ferrel cat, we call Mamma Kitty. For some reason, she has come to love Kylie and she lets her maw all over her! We feed all our ferrel cats dry cat food, but Mamma Kitty is special. We allow her up on our porch and feed her canned cat food and give her milk! Kylie would spoil EVERY animal if we would let her.
Yesterday, I looked at Mamma Kitty and told DH and Kylie that she was going to pop! She is so fat and just looked miserable. She was all sprawled out across the porch and I thought man, I felt just like that at the end of my pregnancy! Sure enough, she had the kittens sometime through out the night. This morning, as every morning, bright and early we went out to call her to come and eat. I ran in to DH and told him she had her babies, she had her babies. We have to go find them. Mamma Kitty lost all her babies from the last litter. She is old. DH said after breakfast, I will go find them, it's 2 against one, I guess I have no choice! LOL
DH is slick, he hid and watched her as she left the porch when she was done with her food and milk. He came in and said, I think I know where she has her babies. They are under the bush hog! Oh no! He said don't worry, I can get them with out moving it. Kylie and daddy were outside for about an hour and here comes Kylie with a 5 gallon bucket, looking like a proud mamma! She HAD 5 BABY KITTENS IN TOW and one Mamma Kitty on her heals.
We are currently using Kylie's playhouse as a shelter for Mamma Kitty and her babies. It is cool and safe. We are hoping she keeps them in there and allows us to be a part of their lives.
Thanks for sharing in a special moment of Miss Kylie's. She's on cloud nine today!

My Sister.....
My sister sent me this today, and I figured by sharing it here, it would reach more people!
The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.
I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.
She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?"
I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze.
"Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked..
She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids..."
"No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.
"I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me.
After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake.
We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.
Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up..
At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.
Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know."
As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, " We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.
There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.
We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!
There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.
If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.
Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets.
The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets."
She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose."
She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago.
One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.
Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.
When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they'll really enjoy it!
These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.
REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. We make a Living by what we get. We make a Life by what we give.
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

A disruption to my sleep-wake cycle!
The past two weeks I obviously have been ignoring my circadian clock! I can't sleep! Now one might be inclined to think that it's just me, in my own little fast paced world... I promise, it's not!
I have this little interruption in my life right now, called WORK! I am working the overnight shift and let me just say... my body is rejecting this schedule! What once worked so beautifully for me, doesn't seem to these days.
I sleep for 2-4 hours and wake up... wide awake! I get 15 minutes here and there, never a good solid 8 hours. I DO NOT like taking medications, but I am starting to feel inclined to give some a whirl. My concern is dependency and withdrawal, addiction to where I CAN'T go to sleep with out it....
Maybe something natural will help, I just can't seem to unwind during the day. (This is when I need to sleep) My DH basically has my room blacked out, so darkness isn't the issue...
I am officially sick today. My throat is sore, it is making my ears hurt! I am going to take a dose of NyQuil before I lay down, I am praying this gives me the much needed rest that my body is craving.

A day to celebrate!
Memorial Day: Memorial Day is a United States Federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (in 2008 on May 26). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who perished while in military service to their country. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, it was expanded after World War I to include casualties of any war or military action.
Memorial Day used to be a day that I would say a quick prayer for peace and give thanks, well today marks a new meaning for me....
I have told you before, my son (19) joined the Navy... well it is hitting home today. I actually am feeling the heart ache that all these other mothers must be feeling with their child being gone to serve for our great county. It's so real to me now.
I have a lot to be proud of today, Ricky called yesterday to tell me he is volunteering today at a ceremony. Wow, I was thinking, is that you Ricky? LOL I am so very proud of you son, more than you ever will know!
So if you are reading this, you watch Ebay on Tuesday... my set is in honor of you and all your brothers and sisters standing up and protecting our nation!!! Kylie will be waving hello and sending you all her love!
We love you Ricky...

What's your favorite candy?
Mine is the caramel creams or bull's eyes! Somehow, I just can't resist the creamy, sugary inside and then the chewy caramel outside! These candies have been around forever! I remember as a child, my dad used to give me 25 cents every Friday when he would get home from work. I would ride my bike to the candy store and fill a small paper sack with these caramel creams, little red fish and anise babies!
I found a little bit of history on them that I thought was pretty neat!
Goetze's Caramel Creams were introduced in 1918. The name explains exactly what the product was (and still is): a caramel jacket with a pure sugar cream center.
Since they look a little like the bull's eye of a target, the nickname was picked up along the way. Many people only know this popular caramel candy by the name Bull's Eyes.
Do you see what I see?
My DH calls me at work, just so proud. He says to me, "Honey, I used your camera tonight!" I say, "Non using camera man, say what?!" He said, "I took a picture and I want you to share it with you internet friends." I said, "OOOOOHHHH KAY!"
I get home, upload the pictures to the computer to find 5 pictures that are nothing but a big ole blur, and one really cool one. So here it is....
His message to all you mothers out there..."When you think you have kids up your butt all the time, imagine how this CHICK feels!"
This hen is roosting in one of our oak trees and she just taught her chicks how to get into the tree. Seems like they are not quite ready to be out from under her just quite yet!!! That is 9 chicks all huddles under and around their mother on a limb, in the ole oak tree!
ENJOY....

Happy Mother's Day
God blessed me with yet another beautiful day!
Today I woke up to a phone call from my 19 year old son who is now officially a SAILOR! I am so proud of him. We spoke for about an hour. He graduated from boot camp on Friday and is now in New England for his "A" school!
Hubby gave me a beautiful vase full of all my favorite flowers! I also got a wonderful foot rub, he's the best!
My middle daughter spent the day with me on Saturday. We did alot of shopping and an evening and night of sewing! We had a great time!
My sweet little baby girl gave me a single flower, balloon and a card! She was terribly excited for me to open it up! She also gave me a small foot rub!
I finished my day with sewing a bit...the entire house is asleep, it is very peaceful and that is my favorite time to create!
I hope each of you had a wonderful day as well!

Flat Tristen
While taking our lunch break, at my full time job....a sweet lady approached myself and partner. She asked if we would be willing to pose with "FLAT TRISTIN". Well, I was clueless, looked at my partner with one eyebrow raised! Mandy says yeah, c'mon Laurie, I heard of this before. So here we are, posing with FLAT TRISTIN and her Great Aunt! How sweet!
Update, here is how Flat Tristin made it to Florida!
Tristin has a class project called Flat Stanley. Tristin had to make a flat character and send it to a relative or friend that lived in another place. Tristin traced herself and called it Flat Tristin and wanted to send it to her GREAT AUNT LINDA in Flordia. So off to Flordia Flat Tristin went and once she got there Linda took her around and showed her the town, took lots of pictures and met lots of GREAT people. Linda had come across two women firefighterss while her and Flat Tristin were out and asked them if they would pose with her. She had told the ladies how much Tristin loves her Daddy being a firefighter and how proud of him she was. One of the Lady Firefighters is also a clothing designer and asked to see pictures of the real Tristin. Below is a link to her website that has supper cute clothing and also a blog about Tristin's adventure!
Well a week or so later, I got this very sweet email and some pictures of the real Tristin! Here is a copy/paste of her email....
Thank you so much for your help with Flat Tristin! It helped me beleive that there are still good people in the world! Tristin was so very excited that two firefighters held her Flat Tristin!! Keep up your much needed work. Thanks again.
Sincerley,
Linda
Thank you Linda for sharing a part of your personal life with us! Tristin, sorry you couldn't come to Florida, however I hope you enjoy your Flat Tristin and all the pictures! Mickey and Minnie said you tell you HI!!!

The bonus was (and it was a secret, NO ONE knew) my very first bidder would also be getting the tee shirt! I second chanced offered Shannon of ALYSSAS*ARMOIRE the tee for $2.00 with the $2.00 shipping and of course, SHE TOOK IT! Shannon's response was, "Wow what a deal!! Thanks so very much!!"

Well, I NEVER!
So my partner and myself are in a mechanical room at work testing the fire sprinkler system and she spotted this cute little critter. Tiny, cute, harmless... he glares at us and she says to me, "Uh, Laurie... he is going to try to run into the mechanical room!" I said no Mandy, he's just checking us out. Squirrels are curious, we have tons of them at our house.
We watch this booger and let me say, I NEVER! He started digging like no bodies business. We're laughing and snickering, "look at this guy go!" He roots around in this hole he has made, then proceeds to COVER IT UP! Now I kid you not, he took his little paws and covered that hole back up. Then, to top it off, he patted all the mulch back over just so perfectly! At my amazement, I hollared, "WOW, Disney even has it's squirrels trained to clean up!"
I just was amazed, I told my husband... he laughed at me and said squirrels are always hiding things and he was just probaly checking on his loot to make sure we didn't steal it! ROFLMBO
I NEVER!

I WANT TO TRICK IT ON IN TO TOWN!
oH My goodness, my neighbor has a new toy! He is always tinkering with something, this month it is a mud/hunting buggy! Ok, so the tires are about 5 feet tall and this thing is LOUD!!! I told my hubby that he really couldn't do no hunting with that thing, it would scare off anything in its path!
We put Kylie over the fence and hubby put her up there for the picture. When it was time to come back home, Kylie says no! I want to go for a ride! I told hubby I just want to "Trick it on in to Town"!! LOL
How fun will this be to go to the mud hole in!!!!???

Royal Albert, Paradise
Royal Albert, Paradise.
This weekend, while re-covering my dining room chairs, I glanced inside my china cabinet. I thought, what a perfect match. I started taking pictures to share with my groupmates and Jess reminded me of just how beautiful the set is.
Black and white, simple, yet makes such a statement.... which brings me to this post. I would love to have the teapot that matches this set. It is discontinued, dated 2003. The rims are trimmed in platnium. If you know of a place that still has some pieces, post me a web addy!

Offended?
Who would have ever thought Miss Kylie would have been offended over a mani?! Well, part of the Natural light studio brings a mani, right?
Kylie: We're getting a mani in the mail!
Mommy: Yes and when she arrives, I'll put her together.
Kylie: Well can I play with her?
Mommy: Uh, no baby.. she is for mommy to put customs on and photograph.
Kylie: WHAT??? I thought I was YOUR MODEL and took pictures?
Mommy: You are baby, but sometimes I will need to use the mannequin.
Kylie: But will she get a movie for every two sets?
OMWord, she's killing me! ROFLMBO Kylie gets a movie for every two sets she models so I guess she feels like she is going to get gyped!
Miss Kim, this is your sweeties set that will be mailed out tomorrow. It fits perfectly on my 2/3 mani! Hope you are most pleased!

Part Two: Natural Light Studio
Ok, so it STILL is not finished! I can't believe how much river rock this thing is needing! ROFLMBO Ok, so I got really excited this weekend and was more interested in taking some pictures than finishing up the studio.
Wednesday, the wroght iron table and chairs will be in and I suppose at that point I could go pick up the final 10 bags of river rock and the old wooden window!
Take a peek... These are two resells I'm going to be listing on Tuesday that was taken in my half finished Outdoor, Natural Light Studio!

OUTDOOR Natural light STUDIO
I am so excited to share with you all my latest adventure! Like I need another one! LOL Oh, but I really do! To photograph Kylie in a nice setting, I have to DRIVE. It takes a minimum of 30 minutes to get somewhere, 30 minutes to an hour to photograph, then another 30 minutes to get home. Time is of the essence for me, so I came up with the idea to create my own outdoor, natural light studio!
I will share the progress; we are anticipating it to be completed by this weekend, with the exception of a little girl’s wrought iron table and chairs! Those will come next week! THANKS JESS! I am so excited!!! You’re a true friend!
Getting the supplies was, may I say, nothing short of an experience! I worked all night, and just HAD to go to good ole HOME DEPOT because this just couldn't possibly wait! ROFLMBO LOWE'S my favorite, (GO JIMMIE JOHNSON) was just too far to try to go to, and I needed this trip to be quick! ROFLMBO again, it was by no stretch of the imagination a QUICK trip! Allow me a small gripe here, THE GUY WHO LOADED MY FENCE WAS A COMPLETE MOORAN! Ok, sorry... it was totally my fault, I should have had enough common sense to know that you can't haul 3 pieces of fencing in the back of a pick up truck and not have it tied down! So, I pull out of the store and immediately thought, what are you doing, you know this is going to fall! I am in the highway; 55 mph zone doing 20 mph and get to the first traffic light... I need to make a U turn. NOT!!! oK, so the fence slides and I am like oh LORD, please just help me here, keep the fence on, let me get off the side of the road and then I will fix it! I don't want anyone to get hurt! Well, once again, our wonderful LORD kept his hands on me, we made it off the road, fence still in tow! Now in complete shock, I am so stinkin tired and thinking what am I going to do? I called my husband in a complete panic screaming about the dingdong that loaded the fence. He is like calm down; you know you can just tie it up! Tie it up? Well isn't that just a marvelous idea! ROFLMBO I get into the tool box, and tied it up with some parachute cord, that stuff is strong, right? I can tie a knot, right? After all, I work for the fire department! LOLOLOLOL Sorry, a little humor to try to not feel like a COMPLETE IDIOT!!!!
Our 30 minute trip to get home ends up taking over an hour. I refused to drive over 30mph. We did make it home safely with all parts in tact!
Here is a rough picture before my hubby set the fence.... We just had to get started! I will take more pictures this evening! This area consists of three 6X8 sections of fence that was painted by my ever so giving husband, and 2 daughters! Thanks girls, you are the best! The smallest area is 8 feet wide and the largest area is 14 feet wide. It will give me 4 different areas to photograph in!

A NEW GAME
OMGoodness, Kylie wanted to go to ToysRUs to spend some of that Christmas money she recieved. Well after shopping for an hour, we had a new 16 inch bicycle, helmet, bell, painting pad and a game!
This game is so stinkin funny... I was rolling around on the floor laughing at Kylie. There is this elephant hat(?) headband that you must put on to pick up the wizzles... well it has velcro on the trunk. I really have to get a picture for you to get the effect! If you have toddlers, and you like to play games, this one is a MUST!!! Currently it is exclusive to ToysRUs! I think it was around 20 bucks, and man was it worth every penny! Seeing her giggle, running, flapping and hopping around to find the wizzles before the time ran out was just priceless!

A daughters love...
It's the little things that are just so darn precious, that make you want to melt! Miss Kylie was missing her daddy and made a picture. She was daydreaming of holding his hand and the two of them playing. Kylie explained the the two big hearts were because they loved each other so much! *sniff* I just love that sticker mustache, don't you? HERE'S TO ALL THE WONDERFUL DADDY'S OUT THERE!!!

Roles Reversed
I was thumbing through my pictures and thinking about how much I missed summer. I came across this cute photo of Kylie. She is taking a picture of mommy! Here lately, she has been making daddy "sit still". She tells him how to pose and when to smile! When HER photo shoot is over, she asks him what treat he would like for being such a good model! ROFLMBO Daddy is such a good sport!
